Review: Grimshaw, the sorcerer, was locked into the dark mirror world as a punishment for murdering King Arin. The King was Aidan's father. One day Aidan observed a hole in the mirror and Grimshaw set himself free.  Revengeful Grimshaw shoved Aidan into the dark mirror world. He now wants to take revenge from Aidan's twin brother Cosmo for his role in putting him into the dark mirror world. Also, he wanted to be the king and be the ruler. Aidan's family is preparing to welcome a new member in the family. They aren't aware of the danger that is waiting for them.  What will happen with Aidan's family? Will Aidan be free from the dark mirror world? This is a gripping story. I read it on a cold weather day with a hot cup of coffee. I must say that I am impressed by Theresa's work in this book. The backdrop setting is well done.  One should definitely read this book.

Elizabeth's Mountain

Review: Those who love reading women's fiction should get their hands on this book. Elizabeth's Mountain is a story set around two generations and their experiences with love.  This is a delightful tale. Elizabeth is ninety-years-old now. When she was young, she was in love with a man named Robbie. After losing him in World War II, Elizabeth met a young doctor who fell for her and they married. Her thirty-four-year old granddaughter has recently moved in with her. Amanda is still single and has no hopes of finding love after her three year old relationship ended. She believes chivalry is not there now as it was in her grandmother's times.  Amanda's grandmother became her friend and motivated her. It was amazing to see Elizabeth as a hopeless romantic. She reminds me of my younger self. The characters are well written. This story will stay in my mind for a long time. Undoubtedly,...

Damn Cat

Review: Maggie Ferris is in her early thirties. She has a Persian Himalayan named Buttercup whom she probably loves more than her husband Carter. Carter is a loyal husband and he bears his wife's constant whining. Carter was supposed to have a peaceful weekend working on his novel but his wife created the drama at home when she lost Buttercup. Carter began his quest to find Buttercup and he met really weird people during the search. Carter had been planning this weekend for months. He had thought that Maggie would pass out for two or three days after her surgery and Carter could use this time to work on his novel. With the missing damn cat, Carter was left to deal with different freaks. I loved the ending of the story. Carter is a good husband as he puts efforts into his marriage and holds it together. He can do anything in the hope that his wife will love him more. The story plot is not predictable and the su...

Diving for El Coraz贸n

Image
Review: Charlie Damitz proves to be a superb author, and my experience with "Diving For El Coraz贸n," his second book, was delightful. The author skillfully sets the backdrop, and Paco stands out as my favorite character. The book cover is fitting, portraying the protagonist with an ancient ring discovered in the sea. Paco first encountered the ring at ten but didn't value it, leading to its loss. Recognizing his foolishness, Paco spends the next seven unlucky years yearning to find the ring, achieving success on his seventeenth birthday. Motivated by a deep desire to aid his villagers, Paco keeps the ring a secret for self-protection. Uncover Paco's journey and the ring's role by delving into this captivating story. The plot is compelling, showcasing the author's imaginative prowess. Eagerly anticipating more works from Charlie Damitz.

Life's Miscellaneous Wonders

Review: The author has faced harsh realities and life threatening situations which has shaped her in writing this book. It is inspired by her own emotions and experiences till now. The author's journey made me realize I have to go a long way as I am still naive about many things. "Veins to Vines" makes us wonder how we share similar traits with strangers. It makes us realize how sometimes after meeting a stranger, we get entangled with them and feel as if we belong there for our whole life. I am currently experiencing this situation where I am in love with a guy who doesn't feel the same for me and I am unable to give up on him.  "What is, was to be" tells us not to regret anything in life. It reminds us of our worth.  The goal of the author through this book is to comfort others by her words and rhymes. The writing style of the author would touch your hear...

Fallout

Review: Korie is a strong character that is immediately likable. I loved the way she looks after her family and Haven community in the absence of her father. Even though she is young and a kid herself, she isn't afraid to face the challenges. She looks after her sisters, gathers food for her community, plans to keep her community safe, goes out in search of her father, etc.  The thought of losing another family member after losing her mother and Dean gives a deep chest ache to her. When her dad returned to Haven after the incident at the medical center, Korie filled him in on everything. When her dad checked the video footage, he noticed two guys in it who had worked for Roy before coming to Haven. Is Roy behind the attack?  Korie's dad thought of confronting his friend Roy. Roy needed the blood of Korie's family to run some tests. What is his motive behind doing that? Could he hurt Korie and her famil...

Legacy

Review: Those who seek wisdom should definitely get their hands on this book. This book increased my knowledge about the connection between African traditions and Christian practice. This book is rich in content and I am grateful for all the wisdom that this book has given me.  This book guides us to live an abundant life. It tells us that we are from dust and would be dust again after death. The below proverb, inspires me to be a child of light For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the  Lord. Live as children of light. —Ephesians 5:8 The Questions for Study and Discussion would help you in self-discovery, getting more clarity about what you want. These questions will leave you wondering and would deepen your understanding. I wish I would have read a book like this in my younger years. The wisdom that this book gives, I have learned that the hard way. This book has various countries an...
