Wreaking Vengeance

Jennifer Logan's murder initially appears to be a straightforward act of violence, yet each chapter reveals more about her complicated life, wealth, relationships, and involvement in the dog world. By the time the detectives begin interviewing former associates and potential suspects, I found myself just as interested in who Jennifer was as in who killed her. The scenes that stood out most were the interviews. Whether Joe and Sam are speaking with Jennifer's attorney, her estranged sister, or the furious dog owner demanding a refund for an aggressive puppy, every conversation uncovers new possibilities. The suspect involving the Affenpinscher dispute was particularly memorable because it felt believable. What makes this book work is its patience. Instead of rushing from one dramatic...
